Body Based Practices May Provide Relief from Stress

Relaxation and mindfulness based practices change the way the body is feeling to reduce the stress response.

We are cultivating a shift away from talking about how people view their experience of trauma to think about the body and the experiencing of it.

When we think about our body as the container of our emotions then the experiencing may be less overwhelming.

Let’s be mindful of Mindfulness Practices!

We can start practicing on ourselves and tapping into ways that we can take charge through stress reduction practices. You might also want to think about participating in a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Group.

The Mountain Practice is an example of a meditation/mindfulness practice adapted from a meditation created by Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR).
